Congratulations to our newest graduates! Imex, Narek and Selin are receiving BS Biochemistry degrees, and Dane is receiving his MS in Biochemistry! Sad that we cannot celebrate in person, but it does not diminish the accomplishment!

Today Dane successfully defended his Master’s thesis! It was an unusual presentation format, because he had to present to everyone via Zoom, but he did a great job! Congratulations, Dane! Too bad we couldn’t have an in-person party.
Akemi participated in the first-ever (and hopefully last) virtual version of CSUNposium! She submitted a poster for judging and won second place in her category (undergraduate, preliminary stage). Congratulations, Akemi!

Dane, Imex and Karin attended the CSUPERB Symposium in Santa Clara. Both Dane and Imex presented posters of their research. Imex also competed as a finalist for the Nagel Undergraduate Research Award. Congratulations to Imex for being named 1 of the 8 finalists for the Nagel Undergrad Research Award! He will compete at the upcoming CSUPERB Symposium in January.
The lab took a deserved evening break and went out bowling! Some very creative bowling methods were explored. Fun was had by all!
Karin and Akemi travelled to Seattle to attend the Protein Society Symposium. It was a trip filled with cool science and some exploring!
Congratulations to Mackenzie and Lannah who graduated today! Mackenzie is already using her degree with her position at Amgen, and Lannah will be joining the PhD program at UCSD in the fall.
